Film Length

This new 70mm BW film is specially designed for infrared (IR) photography. It has extended red response to about 890nm. It thus boasts a relatively high ISO of 25 when using an R72 filter. Like all infrared film, its ISO rating is for direct, overhead sun. In slightly hazy conditions or early or late in the day, reduce ISO to 12. In bright sun with front lit, high-IR-reflective subjects, it can be shot as high as ISO 50.

Along with excellent IR response and a fast enough speed to shoot handheld, it is also characterized by fine grain, high resolving power, and high contrast.

Suitable for use in the Mercury 65/70mm Panoramic Back, Mercury cut-film holders, and 70mm backs such as the Hasselblad A70 that have been all-perf modified, as well as 116 and 616 cameras.

This film has a very thin base, allowing you to load almost twice as much film in one cassette as standard 65/70mm films. It is thinner than our Murnau film, and thus care should be taken when handling.

Like all of our 65mm and 70mm films, this comes in a standard metal bulk can that protects it from moisture, damage, and X-rays.  It comes to you rolled on a standard 70mm bulk spool, ready to load into the Mercury Bulk Loader or vintage 70mm bulk loaders.

Note: Despite being labeled "50ft," this batch of the film has approximately 45ft on the roll, enough for three cassette loads.

Recommended processing:

D-76 (stock) for 10 minutes or 1:1 for 14 minutes.
