Stereo Lens Element Mount

This simple device mounts front and rear lens elements, allowing you to store, transport, and protect them when they are not on the camera. This is useful if you have extra lens elements that use the same shutters and lensboard. This is most common with Mamiya TLR lenses, but works for all recommended lenses for the Stereo 12.

There are two versions: The Compact version has built-in threads and takes up very little space. Use it for Mamiya TLR lenses and other small lenses that don’t have step-up rings on them. It has a back cap that protects the rear elements. Front elements should have their lens caps on.

The Expanded version accepts the viewing lens mounts from Mamiya TLR lensboards, which otherwise aren't used with Mercury cameras. These are generally extra, unused components when you strip the original Mamiya TLR lensboards. Just mount them to the Expanded Lens Element Mount using their original retaining rings. Then mount your extra lens elements to them. This includes a press-on back cap to protect the rear elements, available in a Deep size for lenses with really large rear elements (such as the 65mm Grandagon f/4.5). You should use lens caps to protect the front elements. These are spaced out to accommodate lens elements that have step up rings and additional filters, etc. attached, up to 52mm size. This also accommodates lenses with large elements, such as the aforementioned Grandagon.

Note: This product does not include any lenses or the viewing lens mounts or retaining rings required for the Expanded version. They are pictured here for reference only. The Compact version does not require any additional components to work.
